So for anyone that’s been closely observing me for the last couple of years – you might have noticed I’ve stopped wearing a watch. It’s not that I dislike wearing watches; on the contrary I like not having to rely on my phone to tell the time. It’s much more discrete to glance at your watch than to pull out your phone when you’re bored in a meeting!
The thing about me is that I like being lazy, and to achieve that I want a watch that I don’t have to take off. And so, I wore a waterproof beast that I could wear in the shower, take swimming in the sea and generally not care about. However, my situation has changed because my partner apparently doesn’t like her hair getting tangled in the metal links of my watch strap as we sleep, and when the battery wore out again after 4 years I decided it wasn’t worth paying the £50 to get a new battery and retain it’s bar rating.
So, I’ve decided to gamble on a kickstarter watch! The power of advertising has led me to believe that I’ll soon be the proud owner of a water proof watch that will be able to connect to my phone to receive alerts and will also self charge through the power of technological magic!
Anyway, while I brace myself for some form of disappointment, I’ve taken to looking at cheap analogue watches on amazon to fill that dress watch niche without breaking the bank. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Moosie (Generic Unisex Watch)

What I like: It’s elegant and minimalist, doesn’t appear too cheap at a distance, only cost £24.
What I dislike: The materials feel low quality and look like they would tarnish.
Verdict: Return to Amazon, while I don’t think the watch looks that bad, the colour scheme of rose gold with grey strap ended up looking too effeminate on my skin colour / wrist size.
